Multiple Crossings Done Quickly
During a production meeting in Greenland, New Hampshire for the “Breakfast Hill Project” former Greenland Chairman of Selectmen, Richard Rugg and several other town officials requested that NHDOT and Guilford Rail’s Engineering Department undertake the improvement of several roadway crossings on the Portsmouth branch. These crossings, two on Bayside Road and one on Dearborn Road, were subsequently improved, not only a vehicular but from a freight transportation standpoint as well.
(L to R) NHDOT Engineer John Amrol, Guilford Rail’s Area Supervisor Mike Woods and NHDOT Engineer Stanley Prescott begin a final inspection of track in Greenland, New Hampshire.
John Amrol of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation was instrumental in establishing the pre-construction meeting. Under the direction of Guilford Rail’s Chief Engineering Officer Richard Dixon and Engineer of Track John Bubencik, an agreement was reached. “We put the crossings in and performed all track maintenance, including tie and rail work,” said Area Supervisor Mike Woods. Their willingness to work closely with the community representatives resulted in the three grade crossings being reconstructed in four days!
