Guilford Rail System Receives National Safety Award Guilford Rail System received the Bronze Medal E. H. Harriman Award for employee safety for 1999 as documented by the Federal Railroad Administration. Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medal Awards went to companies in three groups of line-haul railroads. Guilford Rail System received the medal in Group C, line-haul railroads with fewer than 4 million employee hours. Guilford President Thomas F. Steiniger accepted the award at a ceremony in Washington, D. C. attended by senior government and railroad industry officials. Guilford has received a medal four out of the past six years. Guilford Rail System, headquartered in North Billerica, MA, operates a 1,500 mile freight railroad in New England and New York.
