Pan Am Continues Fleet Expansion

Pan Am is right on schedule with the planned expansion of its aircraft fleet. A fourth

Boeing 727-200 was added in October and the company has three more such aircraft under contract for delivery by the end of this year. The latest addition, FAA Registration No. N363PA, has a significant historical tie to the airline’s famous namesake; it was first operated by the original Pan American World Airways when that airline acquired it from Boeing.

“We are proud to welcome N363PA back to the Pan Am family”, said Bob Mencel, Pan Am

Vice President - Operations. “It is fitting that this aircraft will again fly in Pan Am colors as we methodically rebuild the aviation legend”, Mencel added. The aircraft is equipped with high performance Pratt & Whitney JT8D-17R engines.

The airline also recently entered into a contract with Dugan Air Technologies, Inc. of Bellevue, Washington to provide Pan Am with modification kits which will bring the airline’s 727’s into compliance with the Federal Aviation Administration’s 1999 noise abatement standards.
