The Guilford Connection

During an early open house at Pan Am’s new quarters at Pease International Tradeport in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Guilford Rail System’s Frank Wojtas brought along his wife, Caroline, to view the immense hangar and to see the place coming to life after so long a silence. Apparently, a long-standing desire of Caroline’s came to life at the same time, and she expressed her dream about becoming a flight attendant.

When Pan Am opened its doors and took applications for the position of flight attendant, there was Caroline Wojtas. She learned what was required of her, and realized that, as a Canadian citizen, she might not be as free to fulfill her duties as a flight attendant, depending on where Pan Am might fly in the future. With the same enthusiasm as she took on her schooling, she went after U. S. citizenship, and this she was granted on September 13, 1999.

As the smile on her face will attest, Caroline Wojtas is thrilled to be a member of the first Pan Am flight attendant class. Needless to say, she will leave the railroading to husband Frank.
