The Season for Giving
With the holiday season upon us we should take a moment to remember those who are less fortunate, particularly children in need. Each year Guilford Rail System employees donate their time and efforts towards two causes, Toys for Tots and the Lowell Santa Fund.
Sponsored by the Marine Corps Reserve, Toys For Tots collects and distributes toys to needy children throughout the U.S.A. To help out, please drop a new unwrapped toy in one of the marked boxes around the N. Billerica headquarters. If your office would like to get involved, log on to the Internet at: http://www.toysfortots.org. You can find a complete nationwide listing of Marine Corps Reserve duty stations you can call to arrange for toys to be picked up. Another way to capture the true spirt of the holiday season is The Lowell Sun Santa Fund used can drive. Each year the Lowell Sun collects and recycles cans to raise money for needy children. Last year Guilford Rail's employees collected over 7,000 aluminum cans for a total of $350. If you would like to donate your cans either drop them off at Bill LaMontagne's office or call him at extension 1119 to arrange for pick up.
While a select few organize, coordinate and manage the programs, the ultimate success depends on the generosity of the people who donate their cans and toys.
